WELCOME EXISTING AND WOULD-BE CLASSICAL MUSIC LOVERS!

    “Ever since I can remember, I have talked about music, with friends, colleagues, teachers, students and just plain, simple citizens…” (Introduction to The Joy of Music by Leonard Bernstein, appropriately titled: The Happy Medium)

Though the great composer and conductor, Leonard Bernstein, wrote these words, they most certainly apply to the three people responsible for this Website – Cliff Coleman, Giv Cornfield and Tim O’Hanlon.  We have been sharing Classical Music in various ways for a cumulative total of about 150 years. Ultimately, we have shared it or about it for the same reason Lenny did in his book and on his many his many wonderful recordings – for the sheer joy of it!

This Website is devoted simply to sharing joy, happiness, comfort, hope, love, courage and other positive emotions, in the form of Classical Music. As I'm sure Lenny would agree, this is what sharing truly great music is all about. Classical Music and other forms are great not so much because of their sophistication or complexity but because of how they make us feel.

We ask those of you who already love and appreciate Classical Music to dust off those CD’s or LP’s that you have been collecting over the years and, instead of painfully pondering the many woes of the world as colorfully portrayed by the media, take the time to relax and enjoy one of your favorite symphonies or operas. If you find there is still something missing in your life or collection, we are devoted to providing what we consider to be the greatest performances on record, many of which have recently become available in the form of downloadable MP3 files.  To those of you who are new to Classical Music, we suggest you let us assist you in getting started by recommending recordings that you would enjoy and, when our blog is completed, you can join us and other Classical Music lovers in what will hopefully turn out to be lively and informative discussions.

 

Finally, we ask, for the moment, that you please bear with us while we complete construction of Cliff’s Classics. As you will soon see, it is still pretty much in the growing stages. As far as improvements go, you can look forward to many new videos, along the lines of those already included in our Cliffsonian Library and Video of The Week segment. We would very much like to eventually include a Listening Room and highly recommend that anyone who is in the least bit serious about expanding their Classical Music horizons, subscribe to the magnificent Naxos Music Library. We will also soon be adding a Used CD and Video store, along with about 2,000 additional recordings to our current store.  So, we ask that you pardon us for or growing pains and  keep coming back.
